Moomin Aly, an emerging singer from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district started singing four years ago with an aim to create a difference in the field of music.

23-year-old Moomin was interested in singing since his childhood.After getting inspired by local singers like Gulzar Ganaie  Mohammad Muneem and Faizan Showkat (A.R Rehman’s student), he developed more interest in this art and started singing local Kashmiri songs in addition to writing songs and poems.

“I think through songs one can explore the world of imagination. I struggle in my own way to take myself through a creative or artistic way of life particularly in the form of singing and writing,” he said.

From the early age he would recite Naats in different competitions. He would also sing songs in school functions. Moomin said he has participated in many events which gave him motivation and encouragement.

In 2021, he got a chance to act in song “Lala Ho” at Hotel Grand Hills which was directed and choreographed by Tasadduq Wani, composed and sung by Mudasir Ali.

“With time, I started uploading my videos on YouTube through which I got popularity,” he said.

Moomin want to take the Kashmiri music legacy forward and in this regard he is planning to pursue his further education in music
